In the following, we summarize the 5 sunnahs before carrying out the Eid prayer based on the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad.
1. Do not eat before leaving for the Eid prayer
Before carrying out the Eid al-Adha prayer, Muslims are ordered not to eat first as recommended by Rasulullah SAW.
This is done so that qurban meat can be immediately slaughtered and enjoyed after the Eid prayer.
The Prophet’s behavior is listed in the hadith narrated by Ahmad in the category of hasan hadith.
“The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam used to go to the ‘eed prayer on Eid al-Fitr and he ate first. Whereas on the day of Eid al-Adha, he did not eat beforehand except after returning home from the ‘Eid prayer, he then ate the results of his qurban.” (Narrated by Ahmad 5: 352).

Ibn Qayyim also said that the Prophet Muhammad came out of his house to the place of prayer in the best clothes.
