What is the ruling on having a husband and wife relationship on the eve of Hari Raya? See the full explanation below

BONSERNEWS.com – Based on the explanation from Ustadz HIkmatul Luthfi bin KH Imam Syamsudin quoted from the NU Online page, the law of having intercourse between husband and wife on the eve of Eid or other nights is halal permissible.

However, under certain conditions, the law relating to husband and wife becomes unlawful. Some of the conditions referred to are when the wife is in a state of menstruation or childbirth, in a state of fasting, or is in Ihram for Hajj and Umrah.

“Our argument for responding to the arguments of all the opinions above is as stated by Ibn al-Mundzir that having a legal entity is permissible, therefore we cannot prohibit and make it illegal without reason. (Al-Majmu’ Juz. 2, p. 241).

However, there are certain times when it is forbidden to have intercourse with husband and wife, namely at the beginning of the month, in the middle and at the end of the month.

Ibn Hajar in the book Tuhfatul Muhtaj says:

قِيلَ يَحْسُنُ تَرْكُهُ لَيْلَةَ أَوَّل الشَّهْرِ وَوَسَطِهِ وَآخِرِهِ لِمَا قِيلَ إنَّ الشَّيْ Amen ذِّكْرُ الْوَارِدُ يَمْنَعُهُ

“It is said that it is good to leave sexual intercourse on the nights of the beginning of the month, the middle and the end of the month, with the mention that the devil comes at these nights. However, this expression is rejected because there is no evidence whatsoever, and it is obligatory to read the prayer before intercourse will be able to prevent the ugliness of Satan (Tuhfatul Muhtaj, Juz 3h. 187).

When viewed from the perspective of Sufism, there are a number of traditions which state the prohibition of husband and wife relations on the eve of the feast, the first, middle and last nights of the month.

This was stated in the book Qurrotul ‘Uyun, Fathul Izar. Also in the book Ihya’,:

God bless you God bless you ْنَ فِيْهَا

‘It is makruh for a person to have intercourse on three nights each month, namely the beginning of the month, the middle of the month and the end of the month’, it is said that the devils are present during these nights and it is said that the devils have sex in these nights (Ittihaf Sadat al -Muttaqin Syarh Ihya ‘Ulumiddin, Juz. 6 h. 175).

It needs to be underlined, the prohibition in this case only reaches makruh, not haram. The lesson from the dissolution of husband and wife relations on the nights mentioned earlier is intended so that Muslims can maximize worship at these times.
