BONSERNEWS.com – Al-Qur’an was revealed by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala to Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam through the intermediary of the Angel Gabriel.

As it is known that the Al-Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet gradually, for approximately 23 years.

By knowing the history of Islamic law (Tarikh Tasyri’ Islam) through the first and original source, namely the Al-Qur’an, it will be known the stages of the revelation of the Al-Qur’an.

One of them concerns the verses of the Qur’an which were first revealed by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala to Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam.

Among the scholars, there is a difference of opinion regarding the first verse of the Qur’an to be revealed.

There are at least four differences of opinion among scholars regarding the verses of the Al-Quran which were first revealed.

In the book Fundamentals of the Qur’an by Shaykh Manna’ Al-Qatthan it is stated that the four opinions of the scholars who mentioned the first verse of the Qur’an to be revealed include:

The first opinion states that the verses of the Qur’an which were first revealed were the words of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala in surah Al-Alaq verses 1-5.

The second opinion states that the verses of the Qur’an that were revealed for the first time were surah Al-Muddatstsir verses 1-2.

The third opinion, some scholars argue that the first verse that was revealed was sura Al-Fatihah.
